What does it actually take to feel comfortable investing in a stock? Do you need to understand every intricacy of the business or explain how a semiconductor is built, etch by etch? Probably not, though it can’t hurt? Actually in the past we knew doctors who knew their science but couldn’t trade or invest a lick. But one-liners like, “Cybersecurity is a huge market and this company is best of breed,” are not enough either.

To us, knowing a stock means knowing its history, its KPIs, how to value it and where the real risk/reward sits. You cannot just read the latest transcript and suddenly be ready. You need at least a “couple” of years of context: how the business has evolved, whether management guides conservatively, whether it usually beats by a little or crushes, and where expectations have become detached from reality. You also need to know what the sell-side is focused on and which debate will actually move the stock—exactly the type of setup we laid out ahead of PLTR earnings.
